Antonio Forenza

Dr. Antonio Forenza is SVP and Head of R&D at Rakuten Symphony. Prior to that, Antonio was co-founder and CTO of Artemis Networks where he pioneered pCell technology, a vRAN solution for 5G mobile networks, leading its development from initial proof of concept to product launch. He has over 20 years of experience in R&D and product engineering in different companies in the mobile industry including Iospan Wireless (that pioneered MIMO technology for FWA products), ArrayComm (developing smart-antenna technology for 3G base stations), Samsung SAIT and Freescale (creating IP for LTE and WiMAX systems).

Antonio is an inventor of over 200 patents issued worldwide, has made contributions to wireless standards and authored several international IEEE publications. He holds an MS degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, a specialization in Mobile Communications from Institut Eurécom, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He is also an FAA certified private pilot and volunteers as 1st Lieutenant and Mission Pilot at the Civil Air Patrol.
